You are God's Project - Under Construction
Jun 14, 2025
Christianity isn’t just about forgiveness. It’s not just about being saved.
It’s about transformation.
C.S. Lewis once said, “The Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God.”
That’s the big picture of the Christian life.
Yes, Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Yes, He rose again so we could be redeemed and forgiven.
And when we place our faith in Him, we become His children.
But that’s not the finish line—it’s just the starting line.
The Bible, especially in books like Colossians and Ephesians, teaches that we’re supposed to put off our old sinful nature and put on the new nature of Jesus Christ.
That’s the real work God is doing in your life.
You are under construction. You are God's project.
You might wonder, How do I cooperate with what God is doing in me?
There are two major steps:
1. There Must Be a Death
Jesus said, “If anyone wants to follow me, he must take up his cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
There has to be a death—a daily choosing to say no to your old ways.
We have to put to death things like greed, pride, lust, deceit, and selfishness.
That’s not a one-time decision; it’s a daily practice of surrender.
2. There Must Be Practice
Putting on the new nature doesn’t happen by accident—it happens through practice.
Just like an athlete trains for a race or a musician practices their instrument, we have to intentionally develop Christlike character.
How? Through spiritual disciplines.
-
Prayer
-
Meditation on Scripture
-
Silence and solitude
-
Fellowship with other believers
-
Listening to sermons that stretch and challenge you
-
Attending a church where you’re encouraged to grow
Paul said in 1 Timothy 4:7, “Train yourself to be godly.”
Training means consistency. Repetition. Intentional practice.
Becoming like Christ is a lifelong journey.
And here’s the good news: God isn’t in a rush.
Philippians 1:6 promises us:
"He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
God is patient. He’s committed to your transformation. He won’t give up on you—and you shouldn’t give up either.
So today, embrace the process.
You are God’s project.
And even when you can’t see it, He’s building something beautiful in you.
