“But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31

We live in a world that wears us down. Some days it feels like we barely make it out of bed before the weight of life starts pressing on us—stress at work, family pressures, financial struggles, health challenges, and the endless stream of bad news that hits us every time we turn on our phones. It’s easy to feel discouraged, drained, and even defeated.

But God gives us a powerful promise in Isaiah 40:31. He says that those who wait on Him will have their strength renewed. That word wait doesn’t mean twiddling our thumbs or passing the time. It means to trust—to lean in with confidence, to expect God to show up, to rely fully on His presence and power.

Here’s the truth: you don’t have to live your life running on empty. God offers His strength to those who will pause, wait, and trust in Him.

Trust Means Time

Trusting God isn’t just an attitude—it’s an action. For me, that means carving out a specific time and place every single day to meet with Him. For years now, my spot has been the back porch at 5:30 a.m. I pour a cup of coffee, open my Bible, and spend time in prayer. Some mornings I come with burdens; other mornings I come with gratitude. But every single time, God meets me there. His Word speaks, His Spirit lifts, and His presence strengthens me for the day ahead.

That rhythm of waiting on God has changed my life. It’s not a preacher thing. It’s a child-of-God thing. And it’s available to you.

Strength to Walk, Run, and Soar

Notice the promise in Isaiah:

  • You will walk and not faint. God gives you daily endurance.

  • You will run and not grow weary. God gives you momentum when life speeds up.

  • You will mount up with wings as eagles. God gives you perspective—He lifts you above the chaos to see life from His vantage point.

That’s not self-help. That’s God-help. And it only comes when we make the intentional choice to wait on Him.

A Challenge for You

Today, I want to challenge you: carve out time to wait on the Lord. Maybe it’s first thing in the morning, maybe it’s during your lunch break, maybe it’s before bed. Open His Word. Pray. Sit in silence. Pour out your heart and listen for His voice.

If you do, you’ll discover what I have—God never fails to renew our strength. He will meet you right where you are and give you what you need to walk, run, and even soar above life’s difficulties.

So if you’re feeling worn down today, don’t give up. Don’t push through in your own strength. Wait on the Lord. Trust Him. And watch Him renew your strength.
